Terms of Use
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Plaxx mobile application and the website at plaxx.app (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The service
Plaxx provides a license plate lookup and VIN decoder service for vehicles registered in 57 countries. The Service queries third-party vehicle databases and returns the information available for each plate.
The amount of information available varies by country and by individual record. We display the country's data quality clearly before each lookup. Plaxx is not responsible for the accuracy or completeness of data provided by third-party sources.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Plaxx. By using the Service you confirm that you meet this age requirement and that your use of Plaxx does not violate any applicable law.
3. Acceptable use
You agree to use Plaxx only for lawful purposes. You shall not:
- Use the Service to harass, threaten or harm another person.
- Attempt to identify, locate or contact a private individual based on a plate lookup.
- Use automated tools to scrape or abuse the Service.
- Resell access to Plaxx without our written authorisation.
- Use the Service in any way that violates the terms of CarsXE or other underlying providers.
4. Purchases and credits
- Plaxx works on a pay-per-use model. Purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play.
- One credit equals one successful lookup that returns data. If a plate cannot be found, the credit is not deducted.
- Credits never expire as long as your installation is active.
- If you reset the app or uninstall it, your local credits may be lost. Server-side credits remain linked to your anonymous installation ID.
5. Refunds
Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google according to their policies:
- iOS: reportaproblem.apple.com
- Android: Google Play refund support
We may offer goodwill refunds in exceptional cases. Contact contact@plaxx.app if you believe you have been charged unfairly.
6. Intellectual property
Plaxx, the Plaxx logo and the Service are owned by us. You may not copy, modify, distribute or create derivative works of the Service except for personal, non-commercial use within the app.
7. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness or timeliness of vehicle information returned.
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Service.
- You use the Service at your own risk and should verify critical information through official channels before making decisions.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Plaxx and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including lost profits, lost data or business interruption. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the claim.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain. Any dispute will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Spain, except where mandatory consumer protection law of your country of residence provides otherwise.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the "Last updated" date. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
